Decreasing poverty – increasing social protection

In 2020, Ghada Waly of Egypt became the first woman, and the first Arab and first African, to serve as Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. Ms. Waly, who is also Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, has dedicated her professional life to promoting sustainable development, social protection and the rule of law.
